Monroe sits at the northern edge of the Snoqualmie Valley along US-2, and it represents one of the best value plays in the broader Eastside market. The median home price is around $680,000 - roughly 40% less than Redmond and half of what Bellevue commands.
What does that buy you? More house and more land than you'd get anywhere closer to the tech centers. Newer construction in growing developments, larger lots, and a downtown that's adding restaurants and breweries every year.
The trade-off is commute time. Monroe to Redmond is about 35 minutes via US-2 and Woodinville. To Bellevue, about 45. For fully remote or hybrid workers, that's a non-issue. For daily commuters, it's worth calculating carefully.
Monroe is also home to the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, which hosts the annual fair in August - one of the largest in Washington. The Sky Valley region to the east offers hiking, skiing, and river access.
If you've been priced out of Duvall or Snoqualmie and want to stay in the valley, Monroe deserves a serious look.
